Sturgeon Bay is located at (44.813376, -87.372076).
According to the
United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.3
square miles (29.3
km²), of which, 9.6 square miles (24.9 km²) of it's land and 1.7 square miles (4.4 km²) of it (14.94%) is water.

There were 4,048 households out of which 28.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.81% were
married couples living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.9% were non-families. 35.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.92.
In the city the population was spread out with 23.5% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 18.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 92.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.0 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $31,935, and the median income for a family was $45,084. Males had a median income of $31,879 versus $21,414 for females. The
per capita income for the city was $18,899. About 5.5% of families and 7.7% of the population were below the
poverty line, including 11.2% of those under age 18 and 8.3% of those age 65 or over.

Transportation
Sturgeon Bay is served by Door County Cherryland Airport . The city is accessible by road via Wisconsin Highway 42 and Wisconsin Highway 57, and Wisconsin Business Route 42/57 runs through downtown Sturgeon Bay.
Education
The community is served by Sturgeon Bay High School and hosts a satellite campus of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
The city of Sturgeon Bay also has three elementary schools: Sawyer, Sunrise, and Sunset. The middle school, T.J. Walker Middle School, is connected to the high school.An elementary school is operated by St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS).Three former schools, Saint Peter and Paul, Corpus Christi, and Saint Joseph, have combined together to make Saint John Bosco. The old Saint Joseph building is being used for day care/ preschool. A referendum recently passed, allowing the school district to keep many extracurriculars, including French, art offerings, tech offerings, and choir offerings.
Entertainment
The community is serviced by one local movie theatre Sturgeon Bay Cinema 6 and the Third Avenue Playhouse or T.A.P. for short.
